HACKCOVID BY MATTERS & CITIZENFUND

Dear co-operators,

Dear supporters of the Citizenfund,

We recently joined the MATTERS consortium, an improvised entrepreneurial ecosystem, made up of different change agents, already involved in the economic transition, and mobilized around the theme of urban resilience.

In view of the current situation, we have decided to speed up the process of reflection and co-creation. And you can help by registering for the HACKCOVID (www.hackcovid.co), an online hackathon to think about the post-crisis.

A little bit of explanation:

While solidarity-based entrepreneurship has made it possible to develop in a record time a slew of innovative solutions to the urgent problems brought by the COVID-19, it is important to slowly start thinking about the future. For this reason, the improvised MATTERS consortium is launching an online « beyond covid » hackathon.

The current context linked to the Coronavirus has given birth to numerous entrepreneurial initiatives making it possible to help the most underprivileged. Social innovations are on the rise and are now attracting attention, questioning our different systems and the capitalist world in which we live.

Now is the time to think about the post-crisis, or at least our ability to bounce back quickly. And once again, innovators from across the country, as evidenced by the success of covid-solidarity.org, certainly still have plenty of resources to tap into.

To make this happen, together with MATTERS partners, we are organizing a hackathon, obviously online, between April 13 and 17. Accompanied by innovation experts and collective intelligence facilitators, the participating “entrepreneurs in the making” will form virtual teams around the major current themes. To specify these initial themes, today the organizers are making a call to the population, as well as to government authorities, in order to identify, at a local level, the societal challenges of tomorrow. During 5 days in a row, the teams will then develop solutions that will be implemented with the help of human and financial resources, provided by the various partners of the MATTERS ecosystem.

Each of the actors involved in this initiative collaborates voluntarily in a wave of solidarity, like the many projects that have emerged recently. This movement aims to be inclusive and any organization wishing to contribute can therefore join MATTERS on the consortium’s website (www.matters.brussels). As for the participants, it is possible to register as of this morning until Friday, April 10 at noon, through the website www.hackcovid.co. If you have an idea, some time and motivation to get involved in building the world of tomorrow, don’t hesitate to take your ticket!

We hope to see you in this great initiative, and we look forward to continuing accompanying you on your entrepreneurial journey, accelerated by this surge of solidarity!
